ArtPrize - Sept. 23rd - Oct. 10th!
For two weeks downtown Grand Rapids will be filled with creativity and art for the first ever ArtPrize event. From sculptures to paintings, to mosaic murals and instillation pieces, there will be much to see and do to keep your evenings busy. While you are downtown make sure to check out Rocky's (633 Ottawa NW) where Hearts for the Arts owner Shannon Harris, along with many other wonderful artists will be displaying their work. HEARTS FOR THE ARTS NEW LOCATION - June 10th!
Due to such heavy construction at our previous building, we have moved Hearts for the Arts to owner Shannon Harris' home studio located on the North side of Grand Rapids in the Forest Hills district. Only 5 minutes from our previous location, we will still be providing the same services however now offer mobile services for larger groups. Avenue for the Arts - June 6th!
This weekend marks the 40th year of celebrating the Arts of West Michigan! While taking part in this 3 day event make sure to stop by the Avenue for the Arts Market to see Hearts for the Arts as well as many other wonderful local artists and performers. Autism Walk for Awareness - April 26th!
Sunday April 26th, Hearts for the Arts will be at the 2nd annual "Autism Walk for Awareness." This is a FREE fair geared to help families of people with autism to learn about the resources there community has to offer. There will be a 5K walk, music, raffles, activities and more. Puzzle Walk & Resource Fair - April 25th!
Saturday April 25th, Hearts for the Arts will celebrating autism awareness month at the 6th annual "Puzzle Walk & Resource Fair" sponsored by the Autism Society of the West Shore. This is a FREE event, so everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some great food, music, entertainment and learn about autism and local resources in the community. Event runs from 10 a.m. - noon and will be located at Grand Valley State University. For more info visit: www.asws.org.
Artists with Abilities - April 17th!
Friday April 17th Disability Advocates will be hosting "Artists with Abilities," a wonderful fundraiser and art exhibit featuring artwork by local artists in the community. This is a free event and is open to everyone of all ages. There will be information on local resources in the community, an art exhibit, and silent auction including artwork by Hearts for the Arts artists. On the Town Magazine - Aprilst!

"The Haunt" - October 1 - November 1th!
Looking for some Halloween activities this October? Hearts for the Arts owner Shannon Harris has spent the past months freelancing as a set designer and graphic designer for “The Haunt” - an all ages haunted house in West Michigan. Known as “Grand Rapids name for Halloween” this attraction is truly one of a kind. It offers a live dance show, a “haunted carnival” and a 15,00 square foot outdoor maze. ABVI 95th Birthday Party: Celebrating Art and White Canes - October 4th!
On Saturday, October 4th, Hearts for the Arts will be at the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired Birthday party to celebrate it's 95th year of service . To kick off their new initiative, "In Touch with the Arts," guests will be able to enjoy hands-on art activities including: clay, mixed media, print making, and more. At this event, they will also be recognizing White Cane Safety Day. White cane users and instructors will be on hand to greet and share methods of safe and confident travel. So join us to celebrate the world of art, music, and dance, and the 95th year of the ABVI Association! This event is open to the public and will run from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the ABVI office located at 456 Cherry S.E. in Grand Rapids. For more information, conact John McElheron at 616.458.1187.
Family Resource Expo - September 27th!
Hearts for the Arts will be at the Family Resource Expo on Saturday, September 27th. This event will run from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., and will be held at the Sunshine Community Church at, 3300 E. Beltline Ave. N.E. in Grand Rapids. There will be exhibitors from a wide variety of programs/services in the area, as well as drawings, children's activities, presenters, and much more. Hearts for the Arts will be featured in Tuesdays (September 10th) issue of the Grand Rapids press in the "Your Life" section. We will also be featured on the homepage of MLive.com.
GeekAid (G+): August 16th
Hearts for the Arts will be at GeekAid this Saturday at Riverside Park. GeekAid is a non-profit music and art festival that promotes education in technology for students in the Grand Rapids area. Proceeds from the event award students with scholarship opportunities for continued education in a technology related field. There will be live music, food, and a silent art auction with donations from Hearts for the Arts. The event runs from 12 - 9 p.m. More information can be found at: www.geekaid.org
Hearts for the Arts Open House: September 13th
As an introduction to the public, Hearts for the Arts will be holding an open house on September 13th. All people, business and organizations are welcome to come and join in the festivities of the event. There will be student art for sale, hands-on art activities, live music and prize raffles with all proceeds going to the Kent County Autism Society. The event runs from 5 -9 p.m. and will be located at the Hearts for the Arts studio at 820 Monroe, Suite 105. Hope to see you all there!
